Collecting Data at Bargi Village |
Field
Study is an experience of Real World that opens many doors to understand the
basic and key concepts of Data Collection Method. The 10 days Workshop on
Research Methodology, organised by the Department of Political Science, Rani
Durgawati University Jabalpur, sponsored by ICSSR under the Supervision of
Prof.Vivek Mishra Sir offered me the opportunity to understand various aspects
of Field Study Method.

Before conducting Research at field, Prof.RamShankar Dubey Sir shared the best of his experience and knowledge with us to understand the key aspects of any Field Study. The very informative and interactive session by him made us understand the basic principles to develop a Questionnaire and we also got to know the about the thumb rules to conduct a Field Survey. Thus to experience the Field Study practically we visited Bargi village where I conducted a Data Collection Process. The topic assigned to us was “Political Participation: A study on Bargi area of Jabalpur”. At Bargi village having a practical exposure with the field study when I interacted with the residents of that village I experienced that at field it is bit difficult to hold the major guidelines. I experienced the basic and most important principle of field study that before conducting any survey with the respondents we have to make people feel comfortable so that they share the most accurate and authentic data with the interviewer. The other key factors I experienced in this Field Study while conducting a field survey there is a possibility that respondents can turn the Researcher to some other direction but we have to be very careful that we should not get diverted with the basic aim. Thus we have to be very cautious with our basic objective when interacting with people.
